I Wayan Suja was born on December 8, 1975, in Batubulan, Bali. He pursued his education at the Indonesian Art College / Indonesian Art Institute in Denpasar, Bali. Throughout his artistic journey, he has participated in various solo and group exhibitions that have showcased his exceptional talent and creativity. In 2009, he held a solo exhibition titled "WRAPPING IDENTITY" at Vanessa Art Link, CIGE, Beijing, China. In the same year, he also showcased his work in another solo exhibition titled "MYTHICAL BEAUTY" at the National Gallery in Jakarta. In 2019, he participated in the exhibition "Re-imaging IDENTITY" at The Gallery, Maya Sanur Resort and Spa in Sanur, Bali. In 2022, his art was featured in the exhibition "SPACE IN BETWEEN" at Komaneka Fine Art Gallery in Ubud, Bali. Among his notable group exhibitions, I Wayan Suja was a finalist in the 7th Phillip Morris Art Award in 2000, held at the National Gallery in Jakarta. In 2005, he was one of the top 30 finalists of The 2005 Sovereign Asian Art Prize, which took place at the Oval Atrium, International Finance Centre Mall in Hong Kong. He also participated in various exhibitions, including the Kalimantan Art Exhibition in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, and the Urban/Culture: CP Biennale 2005 at the Museum Bank Indonesia in Jakarta. His talent and contribution to the art world were further recognized internationally when his work was exhibited in the "POST-TSUNAMI ART: Emerging Artist From South-East Asia" exhibition at Primo Marella Gallery in Milan, Italy. Additionally, his art was featured in the "PRAGUE BIENNALE 4: Expanded Paintings 3" at Karlin Hall in Prague, Czech Republic. I Wayan Suja's art has not only represented his cultural roots in Bali but also engaged with broader themes of identity, tradition, and contemporary issues. His participation in these exhibitions has allowed him to leave a significant mark in the art scene both in Indonesia and abroad.
