Irwan Widjayanto, born on August 2, 1970, in Surabaya, has led a life deeply intertwined with the world of Fine Arts. His innate talent for painting was inherited from his grandmother, Rngt. Umikalsum Citrosuwignyo, who, during the 1930s, was a skilled batik artist in the Kalitan Solo palace. His journey in the art world saw numerous notable milestones. From 1994 to 1996, he participated in the "Jamboree Nasional" exhibition held at the Jaya Ancol Art Gallery in Jakarta. In 1997, he held a Solo Exhibition showcasing his Water Colour Paintings at the Balai Budaya Jakarta. He expanded his reach internationally, taking part in the Asia Pacific Water Color Exhibition in China Taipei and the "Estetika 11 Ekspresi" Exhibition at the World Trade Centre in Jakarta in the year 2000. Further adding to his achievements, he participated in the Asian Water Colour Exhibition in Taiwan and the "Millennium Nusantara" exhibition at the Bali Grand Hyatt in 2003. Irwan's works crossed borders, as he displayed his talent at the International Water Colour Exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. His contributions were also recognized by the Persatuan Pelukis Cat Air Indonesia, where his artworks were showcased at the Galeri Nasional Jakarta in 2005. His journey continued with the "Expression of Asian Art Exhibition" in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2010. In 2016, he participated in the Trinale Exhibition IWS Bulgaria and engaged in a plein air event and exhibition in IWS Nepal. The year 2017 saw his participation in the 2nd Biennale IWS Vietnam at the Ha Noi Museum, followed by an exhibition re-interpretation in Shanghai, China, in 2018. Now, in 2023, Irwan Widjayanto's artistic journey has culminated in an exhibition held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Throughout his life, he has carried forward the artistic legacy passed down from his grandmother, showcasing his talent and creativity on various international platforms, and leaving an indelible mark on the world of Fine Arts.
